About Richmond Java Users' Group

How Events Work

RJUG meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month throughout the year.  Meetings begin with a social half-hour from 5:30 to 6:00 PM. We open with general announcements and a brief of the evening's topic, receive a short commentary by our meeting sponsor and proceed with the speaker's presentation.  After the meeting everyone welcome to adjourn to a local establishment to continue the discussion and meet the speaker one on one.

Participation

All members are encouraged to participate fully in the RJUG; opportunities for participation include presenting at RJUG events, helping plan and run RJUG meetings and attend events.

Members are encouraged to actively recruit members of the community to join the RJUG and/or present at a RJUG meeting.  We welcome all suggestions for desired topics of interest and constructive feedback on our program.

Sponsorship

Sponsors provide the food and beverages for a given RJUG event. At 5:15 the sponsor is welcome to set up at a table provided at the entrance to the auditorium and greet the members as they enter. At 6 PM the sponsor is formally introduced and given five to ten minutes to address the audience. Many sponsors provide a door prize, such as a technical book, gift certificate up to $100, corporate schwag, or even an Ipod nano.  It's up to the sponsor.

Usual attendance is from 25-35 members. We communicate the RSVP count to sponsor as the meeting date approaches.

Please contact us if you're interested in sponsoring.
